Commissions

Fine art portraits are more than just a way to remember cherished family members; they are a lasting tribute to beloved companions that can bring joy for years.

I approach each piece with meticulous care and precision, striving to create a truly unique and personalised work of art.

Whether it's a dog, cat, or horse, every detail is intricately captured to ensure that the portrait is an exact representation of your loved one.

As someone who has always lived with animals I know how much joy they bring into our lives and through my commissions hope to provide you with a beautiful keepsake of your loved ones, that you’ll treasure for years to come.

Where possible, I prefer to observe an animal in real life to really understand their character, and will then work from multiple references to ensure I can capture their spirit. When this isn’t possible, due to geography, or for memorial portraits, I will talk with you about your pet to learn more about their personality.

I start every piece by focussing on the eyes, using multiple layers and blending techniques; the eyes really draw you in to a portrait, so they have to be right. I then meticulously apply small strokes, using a multitude of colours, to recreate details that you want to reach out and touch. I hope to spread joy with my art by capturing the beauty of the animal kingdom, whether that’s a majestic tiger, or someone’s beloved moggy.

How does it work?

Step One - Sign up to my waiting list

Add yourself to my waiting list and I’ll be in touch as soon as I have commission slots available.

Step Two - Pre-booking information

I’ll send you a form which you’ll need to complete so I have all the information I need ahead of creating the commission.

Step Three - Book your slot

I’ll ask for a booking fee of 30% and the full balance will be due on completion.

Step Four - Choosing a reference

I’d like to meet your pet or companion and take high quality portrait photographs to work from, but where this isn’t possible I can work from digital photographs that you supply. I’ll provide some photography guidelines and will be happy to talk through the options with you. I realise that many portraits are memorials, and I will consider poor quality photos when they are the only ones available, but please understand that your portrait will be less detailed.

Step Five - It’s time to get creative!

This is the exciting bit! I use professional quality lightfast pencils on archival acid-free paper.

Step Six - Framing and shipping

Once your portrait is complete and it will be carefully packed and sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery in the UK. For overseas orders an additional shipping charge will apply. If you’d like your portrait professionally framed I can arrange this at an additional cost.

Step Seven - Enjoy your new artwork!

I hope your commissioned portrait gives you many years of happiness.
